MUSIC IS KEY

Now that we have analyzed our surroundings.  We will need to weave a blanket.  This is your security blanket.   We need to find ways to bring us down from our highest levels.  I suggest activities and music for this.  Everyone has different interests so it is very hard for me to make this list for you.    The easiest way to explain, would be for me to tell you what I do in this case.   I like to keep a long list of music at arms reach.  With a large variety of music.   When I pick the music for this list I do not tailor it for my mood.  I understand that their is music that makes you sad and happy.   What people don’t think about, is the release of emotion that is still healthy while singing these songs that hit a dark area.   Just make sure it is a list of songs you are not irritated by.  It must all be songs that you are passionate about.

Here is a list of some of the songs I choose for my playlist.

Next we will talk about the activities you participate in to make sure you are releasing negative energy.  Are they productive?

Smoking and drinking though can be fun, are not healthy activities in regards to keeping your brain well maintained.  I enjoy learning new things when I am stressed out.  I will read about subjects that interest me.  I also enjoy fitness, which is a good way to blow off steam.

This could be anything though.  If you feel enjoyment from it, and the joy is not artificial.  I would recommend doing it as often as you can in order to hold a happy, balanced lifestyle.

Introduction

College is scary place when you arrive.  When you arrive in the beginning it is exciting, but deep down everyone is a little scared inside about what to expect.  Everyone has a different story about why they are there, and what their life is like outside of the college.  I like to think that everybody has a large work load in their own way, we all just have different ways of handling the stress.   I am constantly impressed by the capabilities of some, to hold everything together in stressful times, and still seem to always take on more.  As a person that does not handle stress well, I have slowly been learning ways on how to manage time, and keep an overall watch on keeping a balanced life, and avoid the little stress factors that can be addressed at a better time.

I am by no means an expert on this topic, but I know a thing or two about completely breaking down, by not paying attention to the things that put me in that place.   Mental health is not a thing that can be avoided, and it is not something that one can fix simply by removing stress but, you can 100% be easier on yourself and less stressed by keeping an eye out for these signs.

For my first blog I will touch base on the importance of being aware of your surroundings.  This isn’t in a literal sense, because people who have everything in the world still have manic episodes, this is in a life sense.

What I mean by surroundings is, try and reflect upon the people around you and the places you spend your time, and thirdly what you are doing in those places with that time.   While in college it is stressful, but try to reflect upon the fact of how hard you worked to get their.   You are submerged in a world of people that are also hard workers and want the same things as you.  Though you will get in manic states through school, it is important to realize, you would not of got to that point if it wasn’t for all the good qualities you have and the efforts you made prior.   Often people loose grasp of the good things they have done while in such a state, because they focus on beating themselves up.   Being with people that support you is very important, if you are a person that has a hard time seeing things for the good, the last thing you need in your life is somebody to point out all the bad.  It is toxic for your health to be influenced by negative people, and in order to maintain a good mental health state, you need to begin to notice the things that are harmful too you.  This is the hardest part because it is hard to keep a friend to begin with while in this state, but remember you are not good for other people, unless you are good for yourself.
